Bonded Labour System Abolition Day Observed – 2026

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Pioneer College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, observed Bonded Labour System Abolition Day on 9 February 2026 at 11.00 a.m. on the college campus. The programme aimed to create awareness about the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976, and to reinforce society’s collective responsibility to eradicate bonded and forced labour.

A pledge against bonded labour was administered to NSS volunteers and students, emphasizing the values of freedom, equality, and social justice. The programme was presided over by Dr. K. Murugesan, Principal, who highlighted the vital role of students as responsible citizens in supporting government initiatives against exploitation.

With the active participation of nearly 50 NSS volunteers, the observance strengthened the institution’s commitment to human rights and social responsibility, promoting the message that freedom is a right, not a privilege, and encouraging all to say no to bonded labour and yes to humanity.
