The Vision of Pioneer College of Arts and Science college is “To create a centre of academic excellence in education and research through professionalism and to serve the society by improving knowledge, skill and ethical values”. To realise our vision the Research Coordination Committee headed by the Principal strives to create research culture among the faculty and students.
Research Coordination Committee
- The research coordination committee organises faculty development programmes to enhance the quality of research projects.
- The committee motivates and assists the faculty to apply for the funded projects and take up minor and major research projects.
- Encourages and guides to publish articles in reputed and peer reviewed journals with high impact factor.
- The research coordination committee of the college takes measures to promote the research output of the institution.
- It provides valuable suggestions and inputs in carrying out the research work in more effective way.
- The Coordination Committee motivates the faculty members, research scholars & PG Students to publish articles in peer reviewed reputed journals.
- It also encourages UG Students to take up research activities in groups at a minor level.
The Research Policy of the College focuses on:
- Creating awareness among students, research scholars and faculty members about responsible conduct of research, promotion of academic integrity and prevention of misconduct including plagiarism in academic writing.
- Developing the research attitude among the UG Students by taking up group projects and internship as per the curriculum.
- Motivating the PG students to take up individual project work and to publish articles in peer reviewed indexed journals.
- Encouraging the research scholars to do research on socially relevant issues areas and to publish articles in peer reviewed indexed journals.
- Encouraging and promoting research culture among the faculty and students by providing Inflibnet, N-LIST, remote access, digital library and computer laboratory for undertaking research activities.
- Sabbatical leave is provided to those who are in the completion stage of Ph.D research work.
- Encouragement for the faculty to undertake research in collaboration with other research organizations/ industries.
- Financial support to conduct seminars/conferences/ workshops/ training programmes/sensitization programmes by the institution to promote a research culture in the campus.
- The college encourages the students to take up projects, funded by TNSCST.
- Collaboration with industries/academic institutions to share their resources.
- Submission of proposals to organizations such as UGC, ICSSR, DST to fund major and minor research projects undertaken by the faculty / students.
- Implementing an official Code of Ethics to check malpractices and plagiarism in research in accordance with UGC and Bharathiar University.
Code of Ethics in Research
In general the research projects submitted to the universities/and/or funding authorities need to follow the rules and regulation prescribed by the concerned universities/and/or funding authorities. In particular, the researchers undertaking research activity in the campus are required to adhere to the following code of conduct.
- The topic of research should be original and unique.
- The research should not be on an existing research work.
- The research work should be carried out throughout the stipulated period. Submission should be on time. Necessary extension should be obtained when submission could not be made within the stipulated time.
- Collection, analysis and drawing inferences should be through proper course of action.
- Thesis/Dissertation should be available in the college library/department library for reference to all.
- The viva voce examination should be conducted strictly as per the guidelines prescribed.
- Each publication has to be intimated to the Research Coordination committee and to be updated in the database maintained by IQAC by the author.

Policy On Plagiarism
- Submission of undertaking by the author/ researcher stating that the document is her original work and not a part of any other research article.
- Submission of undertaking by the supervisor stating that the document is original work by the contributor and not a part of any other research article.
- Submission of certificate from the Parent University (Bharathiar) stating that the content is within the permissible limits of plagiarism.
- Creation of awareness on plagiarism detection tools to curb malpractices.
