Road Safety Awareness Programme: A Step Towards Safer Roads
“Drive Safe, Arrive Safe – Reduce High-Beam Hazards!”
The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Pioneer College of Arts and Science, in collaboration with Annai Karangal, Vannankovil, successfully organized a Road Safety Awareness Programme at Vannankovil Junction on 31st January 2025 at 10:00 AM. This initiative aimed to promote responsible driving habits by addressing the dangers of high-beam usage and implementing a simple yet effective solution—sticking black stickers over vehicle headlights to minimize glare and prevent accidents.
The event was honored by the presence of Mrs. Saraswathi, Sub-Inspector of Police, Periyanaickenpalayam Police Station, who actively participated in the campaign. She led the road safety pledge, emphasizing the need for cautious driving, adherence to traffic regulations, and the importance of reducing high-beam glare for safer roads.
“Dim the Beam, Save a Dream!”
With this significant message, 13 NSS volunteers joined hands with Annai Karangal members, engaging with motorists, pasting black stickers on headlights, and educating them about the hazards of excessive high-beam usage at night.
✔ Over 200 vehicle drivers voluntarily fixed black stickers to support the cause.
The event was coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Dr. P. Sasikumar and Mrs. S. Punithavathy.
