Martyrs’ Day Observance – A Tribute to the Brave Souls

“Saluting the Heroes Who Secured Our Freedom.”

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Pioneer College of Arts and Science, Jothipuram, Coimbatore, solemnly observed Martyrs’ Day on 30 January 2026 at 11:00 a.m. on the college campus. The programme was organised with deep respect and patriotic spirit to honour the supreme sacrifice of the nation’s martyrs and to instil a sense of national responsibility among the students.

The event was presided over by Dr. K. Murugesan, Principal, Pioneer College of Arts and Science. In his inspiring address, he highlighted the historical significance of Martyrs’ Day and explained the importance of observing the day as a mark of gratitude and remembrance. He urged the students to pay homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom, unity, and integrity of the nation and reminded them that their sacrifices should never be forgotten. His address motivated students to uphold values such as patriotism, discipline, and social responsibility in their daily lives.

As a mark of respect, the gathering observed two minutes of silence, paying homage to the brave martyrs who dedicated their lives to the service of the nation. The atmosphere was filled with solemnity and reverence, reflecting the true spirit of the occasion.

Nearly 100 students actively participated in the programme, demonstrating their respect and commitment towards national values. The Martyrs’ Day observance served as a powerful reminder that the freedom enjoyed today is the result of countless sacrifices and reinforced the responsibility of the younger generation to protect and preserve the ideals of the nation.
