Ilakkiya Mantram – A Celebration of Timeless Language Heritage

With a spirit of cultural pride and literary reverence, the Department of Languages and the Literary Club of Pioneer College of Arts and Science proudly organised “இலக்கிய மன்றம்”, a vibrant celebration of language, heritage, and literary excellence.
The event commenced with the Tamil Thaai Vazhthu, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by our esteemed dignitaries — a symbolic act of wisdom and enlightenment.
Dr. P. Sasikumar, Head, Department of Tamil, delivered a warm and heartfelt Welcome Address, setting a gracious tone for the day.
This was followed by the Presidential Address by Dr. K. Murugesan, Principal, who highlighted the vision and mission of the Literary Club, emphasizing its role in nurturing literary talents and cultural awareness among students. He also celebrated the richness and elegance of Tamil literary tradition.
The highlight of the event was the Guest Address by Mrs. N. Karunambiga, Assistant Professor, Department of Tamil, United Educational Institution, Coimbatore. Her thought-provoking talk blended literary references, cultural insights, and motivational messages, inspiring students to uphold Tamil heritage while embracing English as a means of global communication.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Mrs. M. Chitra, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of English, who extended sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, and student participants.
The celebration concluded with the National Anthem, resonating unity and national pride.
