National Sports Day 2026 Celebrated with Intramural Basketball Tournament

The Department of Physical Education, Pioneer College of Arts and Science, observed National Sports Day 2026 by conducting an Intramural Basketball Tournament on 31 August 2026 at the Sridhar Natarajan Basketball Court. The event was organized by Mr. M. Nandha, Director of Physical Education.

The tournament featured Boys’ 5 × 5 Basketball and Girls’ 3 × 3 Basketball matches between the Computer Science and Commerce teams. The event aimed to promote sports participation, teamwork, discipline, leadership, and a healthy competitive spirit among students.

In the Boys’ Basketball category, the Computer Science team secured the First Prize, while the Commerce team was the runner-up. Mani Bharathi, B.Sc. IT – II Year, was named Best Player of the Tournament, and Praveen, B.Sc. IT – II Year, received the Best Player of the Match award.

In the Girls’ Basketball category, the Computer Science team won the First Prize, with the Commerce team as runner-up. Abinaya, BBA – III Year, was named Best Player of the Tournament.

The Chief Guest, Dr. K. Murugesan, Principal, honoured the winning teams and individual award recipients with trophies and medals. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and highlighted the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
